Fixture

Today, on what was a lovely morning for rugby after the recent adverse weather, the Under 11’s played in a round robin with Tondu and Skewen at Tondu. We played each team twice so the lads had lots of game time.
We started unusually strongly in the first game against Tondu playing some good handling rugby, supporting the ball carrier, tackling hard and rucking well, which resulted in us scoring 9 tries in a 45-0 win. Tries came from Harry Mallinson x 2, Noah Roberts x 2, Jayden Walters x 2, Billy Carpenter-Davies, Gruff Lewis & Leo Giraud.
The second game against a good Skewen side was a lot closer with both team playing well in all aspects of the game. Sports took an early lead but Skewen fought back with a try of their own and the scoring went backwards and forwards a few times until Skewen just snook victory with a late try to take a 15-10 win. Sports tries came from Noah Roberts x 2.
The third game we played was against Skewen again and the game continued in the same vein as the first and with the same result, a 15-10 win for the Black & Ambers. Sports missed a few tackles early on which led to a couple of tries and despite a spirited fight back we were unable to get the draw or win that our play maybe deserved. Tries came from Noah Roberts & Leo Giraud.
The final game was against Tondu, a bit of a scrappy affair between two tired teams, and this match was a lot closer than the first. Lots of dropped balls and knock on’s along with some good last ditch tackling led to a 10-0 win with 2 tries from Gethin Evans.
Overall it was a good morning of rugby, it was great to get back playing on a grass pitch after a couple of months off and the boys played well. COTS
