This morning the Under 11’s travelled to Skewen for a match against what is normally a well drilled team and they lived up to all our expectations. We started off slowly conceding a couple of early tries and never really looked like coming away with anything but a loss. This week we were too slow at the breakdown, kicked the ball away too much without chasing it so giving hard earned ball back to the opposition and we took the ball back into traffic rather than passing the ball to players outside in more space. We need to play more as a team instead of individuals with more passing and offloading. It was not all negative, we did have some good passages of play in attack and rucking improved in the second half but we could have scored more tries if we had passed more. Caleb and Ben both played well having only previously played a handful of games between them in Blue & White, also there was some great tackling in stages throughout the game. Overall Skewen played better as a team and we know that on our day, when we gel as a team, we can be a match for good teams like this. Our tries came from a strong running Osian solo effort and quick feet from Noah who finished off a barnstorming run from Gethin. Let’s think about the areas that we fell short this week, when we go into the next few weeks games, and the positive results will come !!
