Our u9s embarked on their first venture into contact rugby. The transition from tag to tackling is always a steady learning curve but the squad of 16 players handled themselves very well indeed.
They invited both Pencoed and neighbours Bridgend Athletic for a round robin and with the rain holding off for a few hours – all 3 teams produced some great rugby.
Both games were close affairs, with both sides scoring some lovely tries.
It was very encouraging to see the players offload in contact and support each other in attack.
Confidence is something which will come with time but these first games were very pleasing and every player’s efforts should be commended.
